Every house needs to have the street number clearly marked for the sake of visitors and emergency personnel. Rather than using cheap looking numbers from the home store to accomplish this, choose from among the myriad address plaques available for personalization. An address plaque is one of those special details that can make a home stand out.
If you don’t want to attach something directly to the house, consider the option of lawn markers. These markers have the same classy, sturdy look, but simple stand in your lawn or garden.
Nice plaques can also be created and personalized for other needs. In our last home we had a side entrance for our business. In order to make it clear to clients, delivery people, etc., we had a plaque made with our business name. We attached this over the door, so there was no confusion. It looked professional and added a distinctive element to the office area.
In our new house, we’ll have an address plaque and a business sign. I’d also like to get a commemorative plaque with something about our family. There are so many to choose from.
When it comes to adding the finishing touches to your home, don’t muck up your design with a mass of kitschy junk (lawn gnomes, anyone?). Instead, search for a few well-made, beautiful additions that add function and charm. These classic signs do just that.
