But after much discussion with a variety of cabinet makers we are resigned to using it since pretty much everyone does. However, with others' expertise we've come to figure out a way to avoid some of the worst MDF issues. To avoid the swelling that is an issue with water contact, we want to use plywood on all sink cabinets and also on the dishwasher surrounds. We will also use this on the storage tower next to the boys' bathtub. To avoid the chipping that occurs on adjustable MDF shelving, we'll also use plywood for the library shelves. We don’t like MDF.
