Ground Plumbing Stubbed

by Alison Moore Smith on December 21, 2009

Ground PlumbingDon’t get technical with me. I’m no tradesman. But I can tell you that the plumber came and ran a whole slew of black pipes all over the ground. They are poking up everywhere. All kinds, for toilets, sinks, showers, floor drains, utilities, appliances.

I can’t remember the last time I got this excited about plumbing. OK, maybe I can. But still, it was a thrilling milestone.

The layout is starting to take shape. You can see where the bathrooms (three in the basement: two for the girls and one for guests in the rec room and pool area), kitchenette, laundry room, and utility area are going to be.

There was a little mishap in the garage. The plumber forgot that the workbench area in the garage is going to include an in-floor mop basin. But eventually he figured out a way to install it by chipping away at some of the extraneous footing cement.

We’re one step closer to pouring the slab! Feel free to break out in the happy dance.

Alison, you should check out http://homeconstructionimprovement.com Todd is a great guy, and I know he would post a guest article from you. His site gets 30k+ visits a month, so it would really be good exposure.

I have known hm for a couple of years, and am supposed to be guest posting for him too, just haven’t had the time.

Keith, I’ve been reading his site for months and commented on it a number of times. I’m always amazed at the sheer VOLUME of posts he puts out over there. It’s exhausting! But he really knows his stuff. It’s a goldmine of home improvement info.

I will check into guest posting there. Never thought of approaching him about it. Thanks.

Congratulations on all of the progress. I know that plumbing projects don’t excite most people but they excite me :) I’m a former plumber and I know that stubbing bathrooms can be a little tricky. Good luck with all of the construction!

That is exciting, how big is that house you’re building there?

Alison Moore Smith February 13, 2010 at 3:33 pm

The house is just over 6,000 square feet. You can see all the house plans here.

pipe installation is a good idea that came out of the ground due regard to the security element, even better if the pipes are out there in a protected area
