House Plans Submitted to Lindon City

by Alison Moore Smith on June 29, 2009

House PlansThis afternoon I took the wet-stamped blueprints, the signed and certified engineering drawings, the energy code compliance report, and the 200-some-odd other required doodads to the Lindon City Offices. Along with a check for $100. The house plans have been officially submitted.

We took the old plans.

For a reason we are unable to discern, someone in the city thought the best way to stimulate building in the city during this economic downturn was to levy a $4,000 recreational impact fee—beginning July 1. Utter genius.

So we are hoping that by submitting a full set of plans now, we will be considered “in the system.” Then we can still submit any modifications later without being hit by the new fee. We hope.

Don’t you love government bureaucracy?
