The Men Pen Real Makeup for Real MenWith my fourth daughter just about to officially enter her teen years, I’ve seen my share of teenage boys trying to impress teenage girls. And boys deal with the same issues girls do.

Whenever I see a teen boy with serious acne, scares, or a birthmark, I feel for him. Having been born with a porn-wine stain on my neck, I understand the issue fairly well. But unlike me, boys don’t have a socially acceptable way to mask the problems. (And, no, I’m too old-fashioned to think that the goth look is socially acceptable.)

Today I learned about a new company with a great idea. They have created a line of mens makeup. The makeup is not marketed at the metrosexual crowd, but at a very general male audience. It gives lots of support and help for a guy stepping into unknown territory. The web site includes information on how to apply the product, before and after photos, and testimonials from other men who have used the product.

The Men Pen is just a concealer stick. It comes in seventeen different colors — far more than most lines for women — to assure a perfect, undetectable match. It can be used to cover acne or other blemishes, scars, dark circles, moles, birthmarks, or whatever other facial problem cause distress.

While some guys might still balk at the idea of wearing makeup, I think this is a great option for any men that struggle with skin problems. Now men can put their best foot (or face) forward.

I totally agree – I think some cosmetic products are necessary for both sexes, and men are entitled to having a “macho” clad version.

Gotta ask though – what’s a “porn wine stain”? did you mean port wine?

I’m glad you posted this. I have a scar on my chin and would really like to cover it. I’ve been self-conscious about it since I was in junior high. But I’ve always been afraid to use anything for fear of being “girly”. Not that I don’t love girls :) I just don’t want to look like one.

Maybe I’ll try this product now.

Thanks, Anne.

A port-wine stain is a birthmark caused by dilated capillaries. In my case it’s not very severe or noticeable. Not bothersome enough to do anything about.

Randy, glad to have given you some useful info. Hope you find the product helpful!

What a great idea. As someone who also suffered from acne problems as an adolescent, I certainly could have used something to boost my ego during those years. I was always so embarrassed, and I am happy to know that if I ever have sons who have the same issue, there are some options out there to take advantage of.

Anything to help teens get through those tough years. :)

Thanks for dropping by, John.
