Our first “home” after graduating from college was a small townhouse in Boca Raton, Florida. Sam was a newly anointed professor at a university and I was the stay-at-home mom of two little girls. And we had a little patch of lawn and a tiny garden space just off our front entrance patio.
After years living the student/apartment life, we were thrilled to have a piece of earth to call our own, and I had great plans for it. But when it got right down to it, tilling the ground there would require an investment in at least a few tools that we didn’t have and had no where to store.
So, we hired a service to take care of the garden.
Even real homeowners often have storage issues. Often garages (if you have one) can’t hold bikes, sports equipment, gardening tools and machines, and a car. If this sounds to familiar to you, consider one of the outdoor storage sheds made to fit most any need. You can create the perfect storage space for all your outdoor stuff, and still leave the garage ready to keep your car from the elements. (And at this time of year, believe me, I’m all for not scraping frost off my windows!)
Organization is seriously important to me. I teach courses on home organization at conventions. (Yes, my spices are alphabetized.) You’ll see more of that in months to come. To me, organization adds to quality of life, efficiency, productivity, and comfort. But if you have no place to put your stuff, you have a problem. Metal sheds give you a place, for example, to store and organize all your gardening supplies. They are contained, in one place, so you’re not running here and there to get what you need. When you’re ready to garden you get in, get your things, get the job done, and get out. To the barbecue or the pool, maybe.
Perhaps metal isn’t your thing. Too industrial or too much ranch style than you’re looking for? What about one of the vinyl sheds on the market? Â They look a bit more homey and the material may match your vinyl fence or railings. They will fit right into a home setting.
When looking at the pile of thing you need to organize outside, consider a quality shed as the safe, secure place you need.

I love the idea of having a shed but for some reason in our little community it’s not permitted, ahh the silly laws of life.

Wait, that link. Seminole? Are you a Floridian? We lived in Boca Raton for ten years. That’s where I learned to hate HOAs. Sounds like that’s what you’re dealing with.
Definitely, an outdoor storage shed is essential to any home and garden. If you want to save on time, money and effort, a storage shed is highly recommended. Choose a storage shed that will be weather-resistant, will not require maintenance and will last for a long, long time.
Mary, those are all good recommendations. I’m big into maintenance-free anything.
I just recently started looking for posts on good garden tips. Some of my best ideas I found by yahooing. Although this site isn’t exactly what I was seeking, It has several top notch gardening posts.
Make sure you get a garden shed that used higher thickness steel as you dont want it to blow over in the next storm like the cheaper sheds out on the market.
