Pocket-Sized Safety Device Crowdfunding Discount

TigerLight Peacekeeper MiniI have a blue belt in karate — you’re terrified of me now, I know — and I live in Happy Valley, Utah. So what could I worry about, right? Honestly, I’ve never carried anything more sophisticated than my empty hands (if you know Kenpo, you know what I mean). This week I was asked to review an earlier model of a new self-defense product that is being crowdfunded on Indiegogo.

I was willing but, to be perfectly honest, I wasn’t very enthusiastic. It’s just not my thing. But when I opened up the package, I got a little excited. This is no simple can of mace.

The TigerLight® T100 is a handheld non-lethal defense system. (Read that: protect yourself and your family without killing the bad guy.) It is a substantial chunk of metal that feels like a pistol grip. Forget the other features, you could seriously just use this thing to whack someone on the head and make them see stars, but you won’t have to.

First, I’ll describe how it works and then I’ll tell you about a special offer you can get on the new model.

There are two replaceable items in the TigerLight T100i:

  1. The pepper spray canister
  2. The batteries (I used the Tenergy  rechargables for the test unit)

The instruction manual is a little overwhelming, mostly because there are many steps and because the verbiage isn’t familiar. If you’re not sure what the “canister valve stem” or “spray actuator” are (and I know you aren’t!) then you’ll probably have to go back and forth a few times to make sure you’re following the directions correctly. Eventually I got the canister in place.

Next, I needed to install the batteries. I had to read the directions and nearly amputate my finger to get the cover off, but finally I removed it (without breaking it in pieces) and put in the batteries.

With it assembled and ready, the rest is easy. The unit has a multi-light function, most importantly one that strobes. With the strobe light shining in an attacker’s eyes, his capacity is greatly diminished. Once his capacity is diminished, the potent pepper spray incapacitates him.

The instruction on how to use the light and spray functions are clear and simple. I tested it in the front yard (on a bush) and it worked flawlessly.

The new model, The TigerLight Peacekeeper Mini, is gearing up for production with a crowdfunding campaign. It has twice the lumen output, is lighter, smaller and tougher, and has Bluetooth/GPS “crowd alert” technology.

The Peacekeeper Mini features:

  • Polycarbonate housing
  • Powerful 250 lumens LED lighting (with panic strobe, high, low, and SOS settings)
  • Regular AA battery usage (much easier to obtain!)
  • Military strength pepper spray
  • 95% stop rate on attackers! (compared to 50% stop rate with regular pepper spray)

I’ve inserted one of their videos, so you can get a better idea of the methodology and function of the unit. Keep reading to hear about the special offer!

The TigerLight Peacekeeper Mini will normally sell for $150 – $200, but if you act quickly and get in on the crowdsourcing, you can get one for $30 or less (depending on the quantity). As soon as I publish this post, I’m going to send my husband a link and let him know this would be a great gift for all of us next Christmas. The units are expected to ship in August or September of 2014.

Click through to the crowdfunding signup page and get your special deal. It ends on March 22, 2014!

I like that it has the GPS thing. It look like if you use it, it calls 9-1-1 and tells them where you are! That’s a great thing I’ve never seen.

The video is a little cheesy, but I see how this could be useful. Cool idea. But they aren’t in production yet?

Awesome! I bought 3! One for me and my husband who is always hiking out in the wild (bear spray), one for me especially when I go running or am at home alone and one for my sister who lives in a big city. Great review.

Anita, never thought about the wild animal angle. That’s a great idea. My husband bought five. OK, I think he did. It’s a “secret” for a gift later. :)

I have bought from this company before and their pepper spray flashlights are amazing!!!!! They work great on people or dogs! I know from experience. This new GPS technology is amazing though! It adds a whole new level of security and protection!
