Tween Bedding Set

Tween Bedding SetMonica spent a number of days pouring over all different bedding online. She is 12 years old and looking for something fun, without being too young.

Over the years attending the Parade of Homes with me, she took a liking to the new pink/green combination we saw in a lot of girls’ rooms. And so it’s no surprise that she settled on a hot pink/lime green bedding set.

We purchased the quilt, sham, and sheets from JCPenney, but at the last minute decided against getting the curtains, dust ruffle, and throw pillows. She wanted a room with more personality and style than she could get buying a complete matchy-matchy set.

After some local searches we found some cute, sheer, green-striped curtains and a number of cheerful throw pillows in all different textures at Wal-Mart. And the prices were much better. We also picked up a plain, white dust ruffle that we’ll add some green trim to, maybe rick-rack or pom-poms or something fun.

We really love the fur headboard in this picture, so we’ll probably make something that adds interest there.

Last, we threw in the Phoebe Table Lamp in pink. It’s got a clear pink base and a feathered shade. It was backordered for weeks, but we finally got it. It’s darling and Monica just loves it. Oo la la!

Thank you! Monica loves this, too, and can’t wait to get moved in. We’ll probably be looking for a way to make a furry headboard like in the picture. Any ideas welcome!

Alison, I know you are all about being colorful so this is perfect. Will she keep her room clean?

LOL, Monica is neat as a pin. And in my house, the kids don’t have much of a choice ultimately. (Meaning “when they want to do anything fun.”)

But in truth all my kids were tidy until they hit that hormonal hump at around 13–14. I’m hopeful that she will retain her cleanliness and organization skills even when she crosses over to the teen side. :)

i have a question where do you get the pink blanket

Alison Moore Smith December 7, 2010 at 12:12 am

k-dogg, sorry, I just saw your comment! I’m not sure I understand your question. There is no pink blanket in the picture. That’s a comforter that’s part of the set written about. We did, however, find her a fuzzy pink throw pillow and a fuzzy green blanket that she keeps on the foot of her bed. Those were both from Walmart. Very cute!

Aw how cute! I love pink and green. My favorite combo is pink and brown, but green is also a very nice complement. Hope she enjoys her room!
