The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
~ Mohandas Gandhi
A life focused on self is a life without meaningful purpose. It’s law of the jungle. It isn’t civility. This category will focus on the following topics:
Some will be surprised that politics in included in this section, particularly given all the evil that has been perpetrated by governments in the history of the world. My contention is that governments, properly run, can do good — mostly by allowing human beings the freedom to serve others as they best can — and, further, that the fight against corruption in government is a worthy, moral cause.
We don’t need more government intrusion in our lives. Keep the government out of the internet. Defeat this bill!

Buzzword of the day: discrimination. It’s a word so emotionally and politically charged, that we can’t seem to take a breath and insert logic on the subject. And everyone knows that discriminating against people is wrong. Discrimination is terrible! Discrimination is evil! We must eradicate discrimination! But is discrimination really all that? Or are we [...]

Being an adoptee, I’ve often realized that one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given is that of life and a home. My birth mother chose to have me and my adoptive parents gave me a loving, stable home. In our culture, most people take these things for granted — they expect them [...]

Anti-Litter? Yes! When I was in second grade, we saw a film strip (am I dating myself?) about forest fires, ecology, and the like. I spent the rest of the week wandering my neighborhood with a bag in hand, collecting litter. It’s a no-brainer not to dump your personal trash in public areas. Cloth Diapers? [...]

It was only this past week that I found Tim Ferriss has naysayers. There are actually people who believe the 4-hour workweek model is just hype and hyperbole. Print out service list and cut into strips. Place strips in a bag. Each day take turns choosing a service from the bag. Either the entire family can join in the service or just the person who chose the item. Alternately, you could make up enough different strips for each person to have a different [...]

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of SEO 5 Consulting. All opinions are 100% mine. In the quest to teach my kids to serve others, I looked for opportunities for hands-on service. I wanted them to work hard, sacrifice, give of themselves, and then see the result, see the benefit to [...]

It is innately human to want to help others. We have, within us, a desire to be good and do good, to serve and bless others. As a parent, I think it’s imperative to teach our children how to serve and, more specifically, how to love service. Contrary to the popular culture, people don’t feel [...]
