“Why do they need those weapons?”

Piers Morgan GunsTelevision host Piers Morgan, who gives Brits a bad name, asked this question of Breitbart.com editor Ben Shapiro last week:

I know the second amendment. What I haven’t heard is one coherent reason why any civilian in America needs an AR-15, military style, assault weapon. Tell me why you need one.

The question — repeated by other pro-gun-control dolts ad nauseum — is so breathtakingly vapid, it’s hard to imagine why Piers and the lot of them aren’t fired on the spot.

When did “tell me why you need one” become the litmus test for American freedoms and rights? Who even entertains such stupidity?

In response, I’d like to ask Morgan — and all other progressives willing to sell our freedom for a mess of babying — theses questions:

Tell me why you need:

Alcohol – responsible for more than 100,000 deaths per year

  • 5% of all deaths from diseases of the circulatory system are attributed to alcohol.
  • 15% of all deaths from diseases of the respiratory system are attributed to alcohol.
  • 30% of all deaths from accidents caused by fire and flames are attributed to alcohol.
  • 30% of all accidental drownings are attributed to alcohol.
  • 30% of all suicides are attributed to alcohol.
  • 40% of all deaths due to accidental falls are attributed to alcohol.
  • 45% of all deaths in automobile accidents are attributed to alcohol.
  • 60% of all homicides are attributed to alcohol.

Elective abortion – kills over 750,000 children per year, a minuscule number for health reasons

Sex outside of marriage – sexually transmitted diseases (not present when people only have sex within a faithful marriage) cost the US healthcare system $17 billion per year; nearly 20,000 deaths each year are attributable to AIDS alone

Movies – promote violence and irresponsible behavior; consume enormous resources to produce; impose enormous carbon footprints in production as well as viewing;  at their most benign they merely entertain at a large cost

Ice cream – this high sugar refreshment is not nutritionally cost effective and contributes to rampant obesity; $20 billion is wasted annually that could be used more efficiently

High-heeled shoes – incomprehensible ecological impact due to manufacture and transport of footwear that is completely impractical; increased medical costs from damage caused to posture, gait, balance, back, hips, knees, ankles, feet, skin, and toes; avoidable surgeries estimated at $2 billion annually

Mattresses – all over the world people sleep on mats on the floor, all the resources used and carbon produced in the manufacture and transport of mattresses is a waste, not to mention landfill use

Ski resorts – enormous ecological impact caused by deforestation, grooming runs, manufacturing skis and accessories, transportation to resorts, all in the name of entertainment

Olympics – as with all amateur and professional sports, unjustifiable use of resources (economic and ecological) for the sole purpose of entertainment

Marijuana – regular user have poorer mental and physical health, more relationship problems, less academic and career success, impaired learning and memory, and permanently, negatively impacts structure and function of the brain

Body guards – let’s make a list of the hypocrites who decry gun ownership and yet have legions of armed guards protecting them and their families, we’ll start with Barrack Obama, Joe Biden, and Nancy Pelosi

British TV hosts telling Americans what to do – negative impact obvious

When Obama and his liberal cronies are ready to ban all those things — and thousands of others — that have no life or death “need” attached to them, then they can start messing with the second amendment. But probably not even then.
